Mirror of Love, Compassion, and Wisdom
Within a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, David offers these meditation and discussion classes to discover innate wellsprings of openness, love, compassion, and wisdom, allowing us to be naturally resilient, flourish, and operate from a fresh and awakened awareness in our daily lives.
From the Buddhist perspective, love is the unbiased wish for one’s own and all others’ happiness and fulfillment. Compassion is defined as the wish that one’s self and all others recognize the view that completely liberates from suffering. Wisdom is operating from the natural spaciousness of the mind which allows both love and compassion to be naturally and spontaneously present.
From the vantage point of the teachings from which David is sharing, these qualities of love, compassion, and wisdom already exist within us naturally but may be temporarily obscured by limiting beliefs and our clinging to habitual patterns of thought. These obscurations and the subsequent reactive behavior can be freed through the practice of discovering the innate sky-like compassionate awareness that has insight into the underlying nature of experience.
The deeply transformative and inspiring wisdom teachings and meditation practices David shares come primarily from Indo-Tibetan traditions and have been adapted for people of all backgrounds.
Essential practices we’ll be exploring:
• Defining and taking aim toward the goal of liberating our hearts and minds for our and others’ benefit.
• Accessing and embodying a boundless source of love and compassion thereby liberating difficulties into wisdom and compassion.
• Finding safety and freedom in openness (radical honesty), compassion, a supportive community, and wisdom teachings.
• Four profound contemplations to establish a stable and positive foundation for your practice.
• Integrating awareness, breath, and body through gentle yogic stretches done mostly from a seated position.
• Taming the monkey and wild elephant mind - Concentration / Calm Abiding Practices. These practices help to stabilize the practices of operating out of open awareness that is done on and off the meditation cushion.
• Dedicating the benefits of our practice to the well-being of others thereby breaking down our sense of isolation and unleashing a spirit of generosity.
• Techniques to incorporate the practices into everyday life.
• Becoming a source of peace, creativity, compassion, and care for oneself and others.
I hope to have the opportunity to share these precious teachings with you and practice together,
Hearty Blessings,
David
